Joe Vincent Meigs (1892-1963) was an American obstetrician and gynecologist
Affiliated with Harvard University (professor of gynaecology) and Massachusetts General Hospital (head of the department of gynaecology) throughout his professional career and authored more than 150 medical publications. Founding member of the Society of Pelvic Surgeons and vice president of the American College of Surgeons
Eponymously remembered for his description of Meigs syndrome in 1934, a triad of ascites with hydrothorax in association with benign ovarian tumor, that is cured after tumor resection.
